It goes back to 1979, around the time after the Iranian revolution that was followed by a war against Iraq and tells the story of a blooming love between two university students. She gets shocked, but she realizes that it was not Raay that she saw, it was actually another man called Mehrdad who had an uncanny resemblance to Raay. She ends up getting engaged to him after a while. Mehrdad was also a painter and goes back to Iran for war photography, but he never comes back after visiting the fronts. He develops a physiological illness and moves to the forests by the side of The Urmia Lake in Iran. She goes back to Iran in order to search for Mehrdad, but to her surprise she finds Ray at a hotel by the same lake. To answer her questions about his death and reappearance, he tells her that he was injured after the Iraqi chemical attack and gets hospitalized in Hamburg, Germany. They continue the search for Mehrdad together and meet dark men of shadows in forests and go through a lot difficulties.
Eventually, they fail to find Mehrdad and Ray heads back to Germany for further treatment as his health deteriorates. After his return, he finds Raana sick and she finally dies due to hearth issues.
